If your keywords are unique, you stand a good chance of getting up in the top rankings as early as 6 months after purchasing, as long as you follow the standard guidelines laid down by Google. If your keywords are not unique, then you will need to work hard at getting good quality links online with quality content.

Buying Website Domains

There are two main reasons to buy a website domain.

1- You want it for the name only, in that case if it is available, simply buy it.
2 - You want a domain that has longevity with the hope that it will bring you traffic.

You must be very careful when choosing the second option, as you can pay a great deal of money for an established domain.

A website that is four years of age, has one page in Google with no page rank - is this good or bad?? You have to ask yourself why does it have no page rank. It could be banned! Next option, the domain has longevity but has not been in the Google search index very long. Lets check. Click on this link - put your domain in search box http://www.archive.org/web/web.php , If it is there, click on the pages and see if it is a true website, or just a one page website. If it is just a one webpage for sale now you understand why there is no Page Rank. This domain will only be as good as a new domain, it will not bring you traffic. Lets take it one step further, let's see if this site was ever linked to. Go to Google and type in the search box www.yourdomain.com -site:www.yourdomain.com . If you find there are no websites linking to that domain, you definitely will get no traffic.

If you are going to buy a domain that has a website, page rank and is getting traffic then buy it, but if you change the content of the website to something that the site was not designed for, then you will loose ranking over a period of time. This is probably because the websites linking to you have no value to the product or service you are selling. You will still get traffic for a period of time, but only from users that are coming to see what the site was designed for, not for what you are selling now. Obtain good links relating to your product and add good content and you will maintain your page rank.
